Clinical Use The Hepatitis B Triplet profile provides a baseline for acute infection (HBsAg), immunity to HBV (HBsAb) through vaccination or infection and even reveals if the patient has had a prior infection with HBV (HBcTotal Ab). The HBV Triplet Profile is in response to the new CDC HBV guidelines and will be valuable in the management of a patient who had or has a high-risk lifestyle for HBV.
If considering only an acute infection of HBV then the Hepatitis B Profile is appropriate, but if desiring to establish an informative baseline for HBV then the Hepatitis B Triplet Profile will be most appropriate.
