Instructions Specimen Type: Red-top tube or gel-barrier tube
Specimen Storage: Refrigerate
Specimen Collection: Separate serum from cells within 45 minutes of collection. Lipid panels are best avoided following acute myocardial infarct, for up to three months, although cholesterol can be measured in the first 24 hours.
Special Instructions: State patient's age, sex, and pertinent clinical history on the test request form.
Specimen Stability: Ambient: Unstable, Refrigerated : 14 days, Frozen: 14 days
