Centrifuge specimen and separate plasma or serum from cells within 6 hours of collection

Serum or plasma specimens may be stored frozen at -20°C or lower for up to 60 days. Avoid multiple freeze/thaws.

Expected TAT may not be reported until next day  
Clinical Use HCV viral genotype is used to predict the likelihood of therapeutic response and determine duration of treatment.
Patient must have a viral load of > 500 IU/mL for Genotype to be determined. 
Notes If the HCV genotype cannot be determined by PCR, the specimen will be sent out for HCV genotype sequencing analysis.
