Instructions | ALERT Laboratory Personnel PRIOR to collection of specimen to assure proper and safe handling Patient Prep: Patient must be 12 years of age or older The first 2 mL (Min: 2 mL) of CSF that flows from the tap should be discarded. Transfer 5 mL CSF to a sterile standard transport Tubes. Freeze immediately. Unacceptable Conditions: Specimens exposed to more than one freeze/thaw cycle. Stability: Ambient: 48 hours: Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: Indefinitely (One freeze/thaw cycle is acceptable). Download-Print: Completed requisition form MUST accompany specimen. |
