Centrifuge specimen and separate plasma or serum from cells within 2 hours of collection.
Serum or plasma specimens may be stored frozen at -20°C or lower for up to 60 days. Avoid multiple freeze/thaws.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Testing Schedule Thursday
Expected TAT may not be reported until next day
Clinical Use HCV RNA viral genotype is used to predict the likelihood of therapeutic response and determine duration of treatment.
HCV genotype testing will be performed only if an HCV viral load is detected via PCR testing.
The linear range is  12 to 100,000,000 IU/mL ( 1.08 to 8.00 Log IU/mL).
Order Code: [5594650] Hepatitis C Genotyping | Result Code: [5594650] HCV Geno
Notes If the HCV genotype cannot be determined by PCR, the specimen will be sent out for HCV genotype sequencing analysis. An additional CPT code 87902 will apply.
CPT Code(s) 87522 (w/ possible 87902 for genotype)
